Our History

From our humble beginning we've been cruising for over 20 years.
Peter Richardson (owner and operator of Peggy’s Cove Boat Tours was born and raised in Sherbrooke, Québec, having moved to Pugwash, Nova Scotia in 1993. He stopped in Lunenburg that year just to see what Nova Scotia's sailing ambassador Bluenose II looked like. He wondered what it might be like to live in Lunenburg and get to know life on the water. After an unplanned visit in Lunenburg two years later on a Friday evening, he came back on the following Tuesday to sign a lease and three weeks later he was a proud resident of Lunenburg, NS.

Having been successful in Sales and Marketing, Peter turned his attention to the tourism industry in 1998 and purchased his first boat, a 32' Lunenburg built cabin cruiser named the Tageshell (which was renamed the Maggie McB after his grandmother). There began Peter’s love for the boat touring industry! In 2001, Hummer (German for lobster) Ocean Tours (HOT) found its niche by offering an onboard Lobster Dinner Cruise. In 2002, HOT purchased its second vessel a 42' Wooden Cabin cruiser and named it Clem R Hiltz after the lone crewman of Canada's original sailing ambassador Bluenose.

In 2008, HOT purchased Peggy's Cove Water Tours and moved the operation to Peggy's Cove in 2009. We offered several Tours cruising past the famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse daily.
